Which type of Apprenticeship are you doing or have you completed? Please include if it is intermediate, advanced or higher.
I have completed a Level 2 in Business & Administration in 2014

Who do you work for and what do they do?
I work for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which covers Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District General Hospital.

Why did you choose to become an apprentice?
I chose to become an apprentice because I did not want to progress on to College after leaving High School and I knew University wasn’t for me later on down the line either however I didn’t want to apply for jobs that didn’t require any qualifications as there isn’t any progression in them jobs therefore I worked hard to gain a fantastic opportunity with the Trust.

What does your day in your work life involve?
My days at work vary quite a lot from day to day which I like!!! I am office based at Royal Preston Hospital however lead and teach on a number of Trust programmes therefore this includes the planning and delivery of sessions for external college students and I also attend external college & school events representing the Trust therefore some days I am in the office and others I’m not.

What do you enjoy and what is the best thing about being an apprentice?
When I was an apprentice I enjoyed being in a work environment and having my own workload to complete including the challenge of having deadlines to meet for completion of work. The best thing about being an apprentice was being able to learn varied tasks and skills that I hadn’t already got and then putting them into practice in my apprentice role.

What are your career plans and what would you like to be doing in 5 years’ time?
I am unsure what I would like to be doing in 5 years’ time, I do enjoy my current job therefore I hope I am still doing something similar in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

What is your greatest achievement?
Achieving Lancashire Business Views Young ‘Un Apprentice of the year award 2015
