Which type of Apprenticeship are you doing or have you completed?
I have completed a Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration. I am currently undertaking a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Business Administration alongside my job role as an Administrator
Who do you work for and what do they do?
I work in the Learner Tracking and Destinations team within the Administration department at Preston’s College. This is where we ensure learners are enrolled onto the correct courses, we monitor this through the different curriculum areas across college.
Why did you choose to become an apprentice?
I wanted to gain knowledge and experience within Business Administration. I had the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 and Level 4 Apprenticeship for the organisation I currently work for.
What does your day in your work life involve?
My day to day job role requires dealing with calls and enquiries, inputting data into spreadsheets, using different systems. My main role is to send letters out to learners and parents for example disciplinary and course information letters.
What do you enjoy and what is the best thing about being an apprentice?
The best thing about being an apprentice is that I enjoy learning new things and developing my skills. I feel as an apprentice I was able to work in different departments across the college such as Recruitment and Employer Engagement, this has been useful as it has developed my interpersonal and communication skills.
What are your career plans and what would you like to be doing in 5 years’ time?
I hope to continue working in Administration as I would like to develop my skills which I have developed through the course of my apprenticeship.
What is your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement is completing both my apprenticeships and securing a full time job within the organisation I work for.

What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone thinking about becoming an apprentice?
It’s a great opportunity to gain real life work experience on the job. You will develop your skills which can be used in different jobs.
